Andy and Miya’s wedding…

This was our last trip before baby due date — Andy and Miya’s wedding! It was a short flight and all the festivities were in the hotel, so tired pregnant ladies could sneak out and take naps and go to bed early!

We actually got stranded there Sunday afternoon when our flight was canceled! Ended up checking back into the lovely hotel. I was really uncomfortable Sunday night — felt like my belly was so tense (see total eclipse) and I was really tired. We just ended up sleeping and relaxing for another day and flying out Monday morning!

Sad I am going to miss my friend Adam’s wedding in Seattle in a few weeks, but this is the last flight for a while!

A Total Eclipse of the Head….

This is a twist on the usual progression of the baby bump. Every Sunday for the past few weeks Brett and I took “underbelly” pictures. I didn’t think that my belly would eclipse my head so soon — but it did a few days ago! Enjoy!!

Fog Creek on a Boat

Last week Brett’s company, Fog Creek, had a party on a barge on the Hudson river! We took a ferry from lower Manhattan to a barge overlooking the city and the Statue of Liberty. Also in the background you can see one of the waterfalls, by sculptor Olafur Eliasson (4 giant waterfalls cascading from scaffolding around lower Manhattan and under the Brooklyn Bridge)…

Dartmouth Reunion…

Brett and I headed up to Hanover last weekend for our 10th (in reality, 9th) reunion for college. Got to see lots of friends and hang out at our old spots and eat our favorite college foods. Thank you to the gang for our little guy’s first article of clothing — an adorable Dartmouth tee shirt!! You guys are super sweet! He’ll be decked out in Green clothing soon! No pressure for college, little boy….!

….He’s been kicking like crazy since last week! We keep telling him to hold his horses and stay inside to grow more!

It’s a BOY!

… more photos of our baby, now verified as our little man. We had the ultrasound last Friday and he was squirming around, but we still have some nice pictures! He’s about the size of a banana now at 20 weeks, according to my pregnancy books. I’m not feeling any kicks yet, but hopefully soon!

Brett and I went out to Fire Island this Memorial Day. The weather was beautiful, but a bit cold at the beach. The person-to-beach ratio was quite low, and it was nice to have space and relax. Had some nice early morning and sunset picnics on the beach as well as some great seafood (Thanks Lal for the recommendation!)

Fetus’s First Flight….

Brett and I went to Cincinnati this weekend for Sarah Lett’s wedding! Sarah is my good friend and was my med school roommate for 4 years. We also got to see our friends Ritu, Matt and Julie and finally meet Sarah’s new husband John! The weather was beautiful and we celebrated in the sun with the newlyweds!

Thanks to Meggie for loaning me the preggo gear — I ended up wearing the green dress that Meg wore to my wedding (..when she was days away from delivery!)

Growing!

No two ways about it, there’s a whole other person growing in there! -Brett

5 months!
This picture is for my brother, who inquired about my baby bump; and my soeury, who wanted to know what I look like lately…I’m on to my last pair of after-Christmas jeans and maternity stretchy pants, courtesy of Meggie! Love, Liz

Tellin’ everybody who’ll listen

On Friday we headed uptown for our second ultrasound. Nobody told me that baby m0ves around in there at 12 weeks (thanks for the help, parenting books, keep up the good work!), so I just about freaked out when he arched his back and rubbed his face (or she/her, of course, we don’t find that out for another 6 weeks). Fortunately our tech was used to people gasping loudly. Sooooo cool.

In case you were wondering if I was going to be a stereotype of a dad, I’m including all 5 blurry blob pictures here. And if I had an hour long movie of same, I’d post that, too.

Liz’s appetite is still off and on, but it seems to be coming back, and she’s awfully sweet for someone who has a little visitor changing things around in her body.

We’ve stopped keeping the secret and are telling everyone who will listen, so if you’re so inclined, you can do the same!

Love,
Brett

Earth to Bebe….stop making me sick!

I normally have a stomach of steel! What happened? This bebe is hi-jacking my insides!

The other day, leafing through a medical journal at the table, I was positively grossed out at a dismembered digit! I used to pride myself in my love of all things gross.

Now the Spanish food wafting in from the hallway in the evening is enough to turn me green. (I used to come home hoping it was coming from our apartment!)

It’s getting better with crackers and cake…send me your suggestions! Please, no pork. (Sorry Mom, I’ll wait a few weeks!)
